Trailer · Wild Horse NineMartin McDonagh returns with Wild Horse Nine, a new film awarded at Venice. Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, two CIA agents, Chris and Lee, are sent from Santiago to Easter Island, where, among the iconic statues, they confront their past and ongoing conspiracies. Chris becomes involved with two rebellious students, threatening to plunge their stay into chaos. The director, who revived Colin Farrell's career in 2008 and gave Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell an Oscar win, also led John Malkovich to triumph at the Mostra. The British playwright presented four plays simultaneously in the West End at age 27, and has built a filmography where black humor and violence coexist, often driven by mismatched duos. According to AlloCiné, the location of Rapa Nui inspired the project from its early stages.
