I Play Rocky presented at TIFF, biopic centered on the genesis of the legendary boxer

Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, I Play Rocky retraces Sylvester Stallone’s early days and the creation of the film Rocky. The feature focuses on the script’s genesis, studio rejections and Stallone’s decision to play the role himself, even at great personal cost. Directed by Peter Farrelly, known for Green Book and his comedies, the project does not involve Stallone as writer or actor. Anthony Ippolito portrays the future boxer, altering his voice to match the icon. Around him, Stephan James plays Carl Weathers, AnnaSophia Robb is Sasha Czack, P. J. Byrne plays Irwin Winkler and Toby Kebbell is Robert Chartoff. According to AlloCiné, the film will receive ten Oscar nominations, including two for Stallone, and will win three, among them Best Picture.
