The French trailer, posted on YouTube on October 27, announces the first cinematic screening of “the greatest story of humanity”. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the feature draws on the Hindu epic Râmâyana, a 48,000-verse poem attributed to the hermit Vâlmîki. The narrative follows Prince Ram, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, through fourteen years of exile and his return to the throne.
According to AlloCiné, the budget reaches 40 billion rupees, or $420 million, making it the most expensive film ever produced in India. The score, composed by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, reinforces the visual ambition of an Oscar-winning effects house.
