Amazon prepares a Stargate reboot for Prime Video
A series by Jac Schaeffer could reinvent the franchise as Battlestar Galactica did.
Trailer · StargateAmazon is developing a new Stargate series for Prime Video.
The creator of WandaVision, Jac Schaeffer, leads the project, supported by producers Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell.
No cast or release date has been announced yet.
The reboot could follow the same path as the 2003 revival of Battlestar Galactica, which dropped the adventure tone for a darker, more political atmosphere.
The script aims for a reinvention that is accessible to newcomers while offering a continuation of the original universe.
This direction may split fans attached to the Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe series.
It is not Amazon's first attempt: a project overseen by Martin Gero, launched in November 2025, was abandoned in June 2026.
According to AlloCiné, the platform is counting on this new version to revive the cult saga.
