Masters of the Universe: a confirmed commercial flop

According to Screen Wide, Amazon MGM Studios didn’t care about this part of the exploitation, the theatrical release being only a promotional step in an SVoD strategy. Director Travis Knight, known for Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, reminded that the project, which passed through the hands of Warner Bros., Sony and Netflix before being taken over in 2023, was meant to serve the platform. He said, while promoting Wildwood, that the film suffered the same kind of "programmed flop", emphasizing the priority given to streaming rather than box office.
