The Braid: 1.3 million viewers but not a true story

The feature film tells the intertwined fate of three women - Smita, Giulia and Sarah - living on three continents, linked by the same thread. According to AlloCiné, it is not an adaptation of a true story; it is based on the novel The Braid published in 2017, whose heroines are fictional. The screenwriter, however, relied on real facts: the Indian hair trade and wig practices, discovered during a visit to a temple and a personal experience with a friend who has cancer. The film thus builds a fiction from concrete observations.
