La Gradiva, a film by Marine Atlan, hits theaters on October 21. Immersed in a school trip to Naples, it follows young people searching for identity, between the disparities of their generation and the landscapes of Vesuvius. Digital techniques are used to recreate the grain of film stock, each surface becomes magma, from volcanic rock to marble statues in the museum.

According to Écran Large, the director, known as cinematographer on Le Ravissement and L'Engloutie, offers a chronicle where the eruption first appears as voyeurism: a close-up of an eye turns desire into a volatile vector, culminating in an analysis sequence of an ancient fresco around an initiation rite.
