Cyberpunk: the live-action film will not follow the game's storyline

The upcoming live-action feature Cyberpunk will not be an adaptation of the video game's storyline. CD Projekt RED confirmed that the film, produced by Paramount Pictures, will offer a brand-new story. It was co-CEO Michał Nowakowski who clarified this in an interview with the business media PAP Biznes. The license, born from Mike Pondsmith's role-playing game and popularized by Cyberpunk 2077, has already expanded into novels, comics, a card game and the animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix. The film thus represents the next installment of this expansion.
