Mackenzie Davis describes the filming of Blade Runner 2049 as almost sacred

The actress evokes a silent reverence on Denis Villeneuve and Roger Deakins' set.

Mackenzie Davis remembers an almost religious atmosphere on the set of Blade Runner 2049. She says the set, directed by Denis Villeneuve and lit by Roger Deakins, was imbued with a silent reverence, like "at the feet of the gods of cinema".

This impression contrasts with her experience on AMC's series Halt and Catch Fire. The film, which grossed $259 million worldwide against a $150 million budget, remains one of the most beloved titles of the 2010s among audiences.

The same universe expands with the miniseries Blade Runner 2099, slated for November, eight episodes starring Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, set fifty years after the film. According to Écran Large, Villeneuve is also finalizing his Dune trilogy in December.
