Steven Soderbergh Takes Over Filming of The Batman II
The Oscar-winning director steps in during Matt Reeves' absence to finish the final weeks of shooting.
Steven Soderbergh offered his help to finish the principal photography of The Batman II. Warner had suspended filming in early October, with director Matt Reeves having to step away for personal reasons. The Oscar-winning filmmaker, known for Ocean's 11, Contagion and Magic Mike, is now working in close collaboration with Reeves and the technical crew. They will stay in contact until the end of shooting, while Reeves will resume post-production upon his return. Soderbergh said Reeves' work was “breathtaking”, and that he intends to shoot sequences that fit seamlessly with what has already been filmed. He stresses that he wants to respect Reeves' vision without changing anything. The information comes from a Warner Bros statement relayed by Deadline.
