The video this brief is aboutStudiocanal revives Les Misérables with Vincent Lindon, Tahar Rahim, Camille Cottin, Benjamin Lavernhe and Noémie Merlant, slated for release on October 14, 2026. The film, directed by Fred Cavayé, fits into Pathé’s strategy around the French heritage blockbuster.
According to Écran Large, the production follows the same template as The Three Musketeers or The Count of Monte Cristo: identical cinematography, similar cutting, shoulder-mounted camera, use of drones, striking VFX and a pseudo-epic orchestral soup. The opening credits around the silver candlesticks of Monsignor Myriel recall the shows of Puy du Fou, raising concerns about the project’s originality.
