Street Fighter 2026: a new cast and a lighter tone
The film hits theaters on October 14, but struggles to deliver the expected fights.

According to Screen Large, Andrew Koji plays Ryu, Noah Centineo plays Ken, Callina Liang is Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian becomes M. Bison, Jason Momoa appears as Blanka, 50 Cent as Balrog, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, while wrestlers Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes respectively take on Akuma and Guile. The film punctuates the action with good ideas, but heavy jokes smother the promise of the fights. Compared to the 1994 version, it erases many of its flaws, even if it retains a few blemishes. It remains overall within the confines of the license, without the narrative missteps of the first film nor the heroic archetype of Mortal Kombat.
