Les Misérables returns in XXL version, a sign of French heritage blockbusterThe video this brief is about

An XXL new adaptation of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo has just been announced. Directed by Fred Cavayé, it brings together a five-star cast - Vincent Lindon, Tahar Rahim, Camille Cottin - and fits into the series of heritage blockbusters launched after the success of the diptych The Three Musketeers and the phenomenon The Count of Monte Cristo, which has surpassed 8 million admissions. The same momentum has already produced versions of The Stranger, Journey to the End of the Night, Nana and The Phantom of the Opera, and is preparing The Accursed Kings, planned in English. According to Écran Large, these productions aim to bring French literature back into fashion, but the formula is beginning to feel empty. An explanatory video and a detailed review are available on the site.
