A Street Fighter sequel already in writing, but uncertain
Director Kitao Sakurai confirms the project, without guarantee of it materializing.

Prior to it, the Capcom license saw two adaptations in 1994: the animated Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie by Gisaburō Sugii, which performed well in Japan, and Steven E. de Souza's live-action Street Fighter starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue and Raul Julia. The latest film was criticized for its fan-service, but still grossed $99 million on a $35 million budget, avoiding the K.O. and becoming a “guilty pleasure”. In contrast, The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) only earned $12.8 million. According to Écran Large, director Kitao Sakurai confirmed to MovieWeb that the sequel project is progressing, though he did not guarantee its release.
