France 3 airs the unreleased TV movie Monsieur with Jean-Pierre Darroussin
The 1969 drama mixes disappearances, class tensions and award-winning music.
This evening 13 October 2026, France 3 presents Monsieur, an unreleased TV movie at 21:10. Adapted from the novel Petite sale by Louise Mey, the story begins in February 1969 and follows the wealthy Monsieur and Catherine, a discreet employee of the estate who looks after the little Sylvie. When the girl disappears after being frightened by a lumberjack, a ransom demand follows and two Parisian police officers, fresh from May 68, investigate in the greasy soil of the estate. Class, gender violence and a deadly patriarchy intertwine, leading to an unexpected resolution. At a press conference at the La Rochelle Festival 2025, Jean-Pierre Darroussin, a César and Molière winner, explained that he stuck to the screenplay, avoiding drawing from the novel so as not to alter the character. The TV movie also received the Best Music Prize at the same edition. (Source: AlloCiné)
