Tallinn Black Nights Fest reveals its competition and its first features for the 30th edition
21 world premieres and Ray Panthaki's first feature, In Starland, are among the selections.
The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) presented on Wednesday the competition programmes and first features for its 30th edition.
The official selection includes 12 world premieres from 15 countries, with a total of 21 world and three international premieres. Among the newcomers, the British Ray Panthaki's first feature, In Starland.
The films deal with coming of age, family ties and pressing social issues, often through singular perspectives. Strong maternal figures run through the programme, exposing tensions between love, responsibility, loyalty and independence.
The competition brings together established directors and second-feature auteurs, offering a space where very different cinematic viewpoints intersect.
