Malcolm Spellman details The Drop's link to Snowfall
The spin-off focuses on 90s West Coast hip-hop, without the character Franklin.
Malcolm Spellman explains how The Drop: A Snowfall Saga is built around the rise of West Coast hip-hop, while preserving the street violence that drove the parent series. The story follows Wanda (Gail Bean) and Leon (Isaiah John), two survivors of Snowfall, and excludes the character Franklin Saint, played by Damson Idris, who will not appear. The showrunner mentions his "eyewitness" approach to ensure authenticity and notes that he "does not chase cameos". The Hollywood Reporter reports that audience feedback convinces him that "this motherf***er is a hit".
