BBC launches Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew, 52 short animated episodes
An 11-minute animated series for kids arrives next year on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
The BBC announced that from next year it will broadcast a 52-episode animated series titled Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew. Each episode runs about 11 minutes and follows a young Doctor together with Hannah, Beastie and the robot Toast-IE as they travel through extraordinary worlds across the ages, sometimes meeting iconic characters from the original saga. The series, aimed at a young audience, aims to rejuvenate the franchise's viewership, which has seen a drop in ratings in recent seasons. The Doctor's voice is still to be decided and will not add to the fifteen incarnations already known. According to AlloCiné, the broadcast of the main series is on an indefinite pause while a new creative team is being sought.
