Three LFF 2026 films incorporate “concrete” in their title

The festival leans on the material as a guiding thread, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Three feature films in the 2026 program of the BFI London Film Festival carry the word “concrete” in their title. Artistic director Kristi Matheson explains that the festival has moved “from animals to inanimate objects or the mineral world”. She adds that these films, very different in tone and subject, nevertheless sparked programming meetings that were “fun, hilarious and quite confusing”. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this trend reflects a desire to return to the basics, to an elemental material.
