Luca Guadagnino presented Artificial at the New York Film Festival, where the Sam Altman-centered drama immediately generated excitement. The press describes it as a "visceral corporate drama", "provocative" and the director's "best film of the decade". Andrew Garfield portrays Sam Altman with a performance that is both unsettling and transformative, alternating disarming charm with unsettling mischief. Yura Borisov shines in the role of OpenAI's brain, torn by the moral implications of his creation. Damon Albarn's original soundtrack, electronic and atmospheric, underscores the technological mood, while Guadagnino's cinematic flourishes make the film both the funniest and the scariest in his filmography. According to Matt Neglia, editor-in-chief of Next Best Picture, the film is "as entertaining as it is terrifying" and "a brilliantly written human story about power, control, ambition and greed".
