Le Corset, the first personal feature-length film by Louis Clichy, hits theaters on October 14. It follows Christophe, 11, who must wear a corset after a fall on his family farm in Beauce. Between the fields, school and the tractor, he discovers music and meets Clara, opening new perspectives. According to AlloCiné, the film was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival and received the Jury and Audience Awards at Annecy. Created with watercolor and Chinese ink, the handcrafted process favors clean shapes, light play and contrasts. The corset becomes both a handicap and a super-power, physically translating Christophe's anger that can overturn his surroundings. The original soundtrack, entirely diegetic, accompanies each emotion without ever overwhelming it. Louis Clichy, former animator on WALL-E and co-director of Astérix : Le Domaine des Dieux and Astérix : Le Secret de la potion magique, delivers here an intimate and visually distinctive work.
