East of Eden reaches 6.5 M views in first week

The limited series East of Eden, adapted by Zoe Kazan, dominated the English Global Top 10 as soon as it launched. Florence Pugh plays the manipulative Cathy Ames, alongside Christopher Abbott (Adam) and Mike Faist (Charles). The cast is further enriched by Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Hoon Lee and Ciarán Hinds.

In four days, the series accumulated 45.5 million hours of viewing, roughly 6.5 million "Completed Viewing Equivalent", Netflix's metric. This result earned it the #1 spot on the Global Top 10 English TV.

The success also triggered a significant rebound in sales of John Steinbeck's novel, illustrating the Netflix effect on publishing. The figure comes from a What's on Netflix report published on October 6 2026.
