
Traces of Justice dominates Chinese box office weekend of Oct 2-4
The police drama beats the competition and has amassed over $40 M since its launch.
The police drama Traces of Justice topped the Chinese box office for the weekend of Oct 2-4. The film, nicknamed "Sherlock of China", earned 208.9 M RMB ($31.2 M) in three days, bringing its total to $41.8 M since its release on Oct 1, according to Variety. Directed by Chen Sicheng, co-written with Ji Zhang, it stars Zhang Yi, Li Ma, Li Xuejian, Karry Wang, Fan Chengcheng and Chen Feiyu. The plot, which spans several decades, follows a legendary detective and his team as they solve complex cases while tracing the evolution of China's public security forces. In second place, the comedy Mr. & Mrs. Pardon made $17.3 M this weekend, raising its total to $24.5 M since Oct 1.
