The Explosive Species: police comedy between wild boars and rural feuds

A wacky investigation where a Corsican police officer and a psychologist get involved, from October 7 in theaters.

The Explosive Species stars Alexis Manenti (Fulda, a Corsican police officer) and Ella Rumpf (Stéphane, the brigade's psychologist) in a North-East countryside devastated by giant wild boars, the Attilas. The bankrupt grain merchant Brun (Jean-Louis Coulloc’h) disappears after a dispute with a notable, triggering Fulda's investigation, full of lightning insights and spectacular blunders, all under the influence of vodka.

The first feature film by Sarah Arnold, presented at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes, the film uses this farmer-hunter conflict to illustrate mechanisms of power and economic predation. "I wanted to start from a local context to evoke a more global issue," explains the director, according to AlloCiné. The whole is poised to be sensitive, funny and resolutely punk, to discover from October 7.
