Tip Toe, Russell T. Davies' drama about homophobic hatred

A five-episode mini-series where a gay bar owner confronts a homophobic neighbour in Manchester.

The new five-episode mini-series Tip Toe by Russell T. Davies opens with gay bar owner Leo Struthers (Alan Cumming) hanging from a streetlamp in front of his home in Manchester. The title comes from Melva's (Paul Rhys) comment: "I used to walk shouting 'Ta-da!', now I walk on tiptoe, just in case." The series follows the escalation of a violent feud between Leo and his homophobic neighbour, mixing anger and empathy without sinking into despair. The cast brings together Alan Cumming, David Morrissey, Jackson Connor, Joseph Evans, Iz Hesketh, Elizabeth Berrington, Pooky Quesnel, Paul Rhys and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyaw. Broadcast on Starz on Friday October 2 at 9 p.m., Tip Toe is described by The Hollywood Reporter as a cry of frustration that hits the heart.
