Bradley Cooper will play Commander Duke in the upcoming G.I. Joe film. After hiring a screenwriter, Paramount confirmed the franchise's return, which had already seen G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra in 2009 and its sequel in 2013. The first installment, released when Transformers dominated the box office, only grossed $302 million, far short of the targets. A spin-off, Snake Eyes, turned out to be a disaster, but the studio persists. Earlier entries featured Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid, Bruce Willis or Dwayne Johnson. According to Screen Rant, the choice of Cooper, known for The Hangover, American Sniper, A Star is Born and the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy, fits the saga's tradition.
