Golden Globes deadline set for October 30, dramas get a head start

The submission deadline for Golden Globes films is set for October 30, the day before Halloween. This year, the drama category is dominated by The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan and La Bola Negra by Los Javis, the latter having won the Best Director award at Cannes four months ago. The associated Netflix film won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto Festival this month, boosting its chances. In contrast, the musical-comedy side is more competitive than drama for the third consecutive year. According to Variety, studios are tweaking their campaign outfits as buzzes evolve.
