Unreleased film about the final months of De Gaulle in preparation
The project France, toi, France by Alexandre Sokourov examines the end of the general's life.
An upcoming feature film tentatively titled France, toi, France explores the final months of Charles de Gaulle. Directed by Russian filmmaker Alexandre Sokourov, the film will be produced by Loco Films and Arte France Cinéma. The screenplay is set in 1969, after the defeat of the referendum that pushes the General to leave power and retreat to Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises. The story follows a day of his last year, presenting him "solitary, free, far from power", deep in reflection on his country. Casting is currently underway. According to AlloCiné, the diptych La Bataille de Gaulle has already drawn close to six million admissions in France, with 3.1 million for L’âge de fer and 2.7 million for J’écris ton nom.
