Notre Salut, winner of the Script Prize, hits theaters
Emmanuel Marre's Occupation drama, inspired by his great-grandfather, charms audiences in the South.
Winner of the Script Prize at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Notre Salut dives into the Occupation through Henri Marre, 49, who arrives in Vichy in September 1940 penniless. He carries in his suitcase the eponymous political treatise, advocating "gain efficiency" to lift France. The film, directed solo by Emmanuel Marre, returns to the Croisette five years after the Critics' Week where it received the Gan Foundation Prize for Rien à foutre. In competition, the Palme d’Or went to Fjord, but it remains one of the most appreciated titles, especially in the South where it won over audiences last May. Its quasi-documentary style, sometimes off-beat, recalls the series The Office without ever breaking the gaze. According to AlloCiné, the success endures four months after release.
