Écran Large Presents the Top 10 Video Game Film Adaptations

To celebrate the recent release of Resident Evil, Écran Large revisited the cinematic adaptations of video games. It recalls past failures - Mortal Kombat, the 1993 Super Mario Bros, or the feature film Doom starring Dwayne Johnson - where the lure of profit often harmed quality. After sorting out the worst, the editors gathered the ten best movies, listed chronologically. Among them, the second adaptation of the Street Fighter franchise, the 1994 anime Street Fighter 2 directed by Gisaburo Sugii, stands out as the most successful, contrasting with the same-year Street Fighter: The Movie, an American film starring JCVD. According to Écran Large, these titles show that a good adaptation is possible.
