He says the new scenes are solely meant to improve the film, not to appease critics.

Aaron Sorkin, director of The Social Reckoning, explained that the reshoots carried out after the trailer's release have nothing to do with the mixed public reaction. “We are not fixing anything,” he said, clarifying that the new takes were simply meant to “make the film better.” He distinguished two types of reshoots: those that happen when a film is in trouble - often $150 million blockbusters - and those that stem from a desire to improve an already solid work. The screenwriter also justified the lack of an explicit mention of Trump, saying the choice was “not a red-blue issue.” Finally, he recalled that Sony Pictures president Tom Rothman had offered to rework the film, which led him to add two extra scenes. according to Variety
