Linklater announces the resumption of filming Merrily We Roll Along

Richard Linklater has confirmed that filming of his adaptation of Merrily We Roll Along will resume in a few months. The project, which follows the decade-spanning structure of Stephen Sondheim’s show, stretches over several decades of production. At the Zurich Film Festival, the director recalled that during Boyhood the crew worked anonymously, whereas this musical film is very public. He noted that the stage version, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez, won four Tony Awards, including Best Revival. The film cast includes Paul Mescal, Beanie Feldstein and Ben Platt. “My progress report is this: It's nine sections in 20 years, and in a few months, we are filming a fourth. So see you in 2040.”
