The Coen Brothers Honored with the Lumière Award 2026 in Lyon

The Lumière Festival returns to Lyon from October 10 to 18 for its 18th edition. After Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Jane Fonda and Michael Mann, this year the festival honors two filmmakers: brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, who will jointly receive the Lumière Award 2026, according to AlloCiné. Their filmography, from Blood Simple (1984) to Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), No Country for Old Men (2007) and Burn After Reading (2008), has shaped contemporary American cinema. An exceptional master class will bring them together on Friday, October 16, followed the next day by a screening of four of their masterpieces on the giant screen of the Halle Tony Garnier. Renowned director Zhang Yimou and actress Zhang Ziyi, known for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, will also be invited, the latter film being presented in a restored 4K version.
