AFI Fest 2026: 157 films, from Wildwood to Being Heumann

AFI Fest 2026 opens with the U.S. premiere of the animation Wildwood and will close with the biographical drama Being Heumann. Presented by Canva, the festival will take place in Hollywood from October 21 to 25, marking its 40th edition. The program includes 157 films divided into five red-carpet premieres, twelve special screenings, thirteen “luminaries” selections, eighteen discovered titles, sixteen world cinema entries and seventeen documentaries. In addition to Wildwood and Being Heumann, the premieres include I Play Rocky, The Mosquito Bowl and Ray Gunn. Among the other titles are Bucking Fastard by Werner Herzog starring Kate Mara and Rooney Mara, A Long Winter by Andrew Haigh, and The Idiot(s) by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert. Films such as Behemoth, Clarissa, Elsinore, Wild Horse Nine and All of a Sudden will also be screened. (Variety)
