A Mary Poppins series truer to the novels in development
The project, led by Tom Winchester, aims to restore the governess as described by Pamela Travers.
After the success of the 1964 film, a series adaptation, closer to the eight original novels from 1934, is said to be in preparation. Development is entrusted to Tom Winchester, known for the series Shōgun, who would have acquired the rights to the texts. The project is still at the development stage, according to Screen Wide. The cult film, directed by Robert Stevenson and starring Julie Andrews, won five Oscars, but was criticized by the author for the softness added to her heroine. This new version promises to do justice to the harsher and more ambiguous version of the governess.
