The political thriller The Assassin(s) by Hur Jin-ho dominated the South Korean box office for the weekend of September 25-27, during the Chuseok holidays. It grossed $8 million from 1,119,156 admissions across 1,532 screens, representing 40.9% of the weekend market. The film reconstructs the August 15, 1974 assassination attempt on President Park Chung-hee, which claimed the life of First Lady Yuk Young-soo. Detective Yu Hae-jin, editorial chief Park Hae-il and reporter Lee Min-ho investigate missing ballistic evidence that contradicts the official lone shooter narrative. Since its release on September 23, the film has accumulated $11.2 million and 1,566,222 admissions. Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub placed second, with $4 million. According to Variety, these figures reflect the peak attendance of the Chuseok weekend.
