Carrie Coon will be the inaugural recipient of the new Luminary Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival, actress category, for her excellence and commitment to animated image. The presentation will take place on October 4, followed by an extensive conversation. Coon, known for White Lotus, The Gilded Age and The Leftovers, also appears in The Liberation, screened the same day, where she plays a mother trying to escape a painful past and finding refuge in a women-only cult. The festival, running from October 1 to 11, also offers round-tables, panels and master-classes with directors, craftsmen and producers. (Source: Variety)
