Jon Watts to Direct Lucasfilm's Next Star Wars Film
Spider-Man director Jon Watts is confirmed to helm the first installment of the new Skywalker trilogy written by Simon Kinberg.
Lucasfilm is in post-production on the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter. The studio is preparing a new trilogy, written by Simon Kinberg, which would be the next chapter of the Skywalker Saga. Jon Watts, known for the three Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland, has been attached as director of the first episode. He returns to the universe after co-creating the series Skeleton Crew in 2024.
This trilogy takes place after Episodes I to IX; the future film would become Episode X. Rey Skywalker, played by Daisy Ridley in the previous trilogy (2015-2019), is expected to appear in some capacity. The project is still in development and has not yet been finalized.
