Ray Gunn arrives in streaming and in 70 mm as early as December
The first trailer for Ray Gunn reveals Brad Bird's animated film, slated for Netflix and limited 70 mm theatrical screenings from December 4.
Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Ray Gunn, Brad Bird's dark animated film. The director, known for The Incredibles and The Iron Giant, has been working on this retro-futuristic project for more than thirty years. The footage shown is vibrant and the trailer promises a visual spectacle. Skydance Animation finally brought Metropia to life, as shown in the new teaser.
The film will stream on Netflix and will have a selective theatrical release starting December 4, 2026. Netflix has confirmed limited 70 mm screenings, a rare format for animation. The two showings at the London Film Festival on October 10 and October 17 have already sold out.
This strategy supports an awards campaign. Variety reported that Netflix will submit the song Too Much To Ask, performed by Scarlett Johansson, for the Best Original Song category.
