Doctor Who and Star Trek: the crossover that never happened

According to AlloCiné, the creators of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Doctor Who did everything they could to bring their heroes together. The fourth season of Strange New Worlds even slipped a reference to "a trip through time" and showed the TARDIS, which looks like a police box, in the background. So far, the crossover has only existed in comics and novels, never on screen.

In an interview with Radio Times, writer Akiva Goldsman confirmed he tried to insert the Doctor, backed by showrunner Russell T. Davies. "We said: OK, let's do a crossover, but the big people said no," he said. Russell T. Davies had already indicated that only fan mobilisation could revive the project.

The next season of Strange New Worlds will be the last, and no new Star Trek series is planned. Doctor Who continues to air while looking for a new showrunner.
