Unabomber, the new Netflix thriller about Theodore Kaczynski
The film Unabomber arrives on Netflix, starring Jacob Tremblay and Russell Crowe.
The thriller Unabomber, based on the true story of Theodore Kaczynski, has just arrived on Netflix. Directed by Janus Metz Pedersen, the film puts the terrorist's traumatized youth at the centre of the story. Jacob Tremblay plays the young Kaczynski, Russell Crowe plays the psychiatrist who follows him, and Shailene Woodley portrays an FBI profiler.
The first reviews highlight Crowe's presence, "captivating from his first appearance", and note that the film remains an "incomplete puzzle yet perfectly watchable". It features an entirely fictional heroine, while Tremblay's performance makes the rage and frustration of his character a bit too sympathetic. The script relies on flashbacks of an authoritarian father and anecdotes of a cold mother, without diving into the criminal's psychological depth.
