Pingyao celebrates its 10th anniversary with an AI robot in the rain
The festival opened with an AI robot dance and honored Ann Hui, Variety reports.
On September 24, the 10th Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival kicked off under a light drizzle. According to Variety, an AI robot from Unitree performed a dance on the outdoor stage of the Platform, the iconic theater at the UNESCO World Heritage site. Each attendee was given a disposable poncho before the show.
After the performance, the festival paid tribute to four departed friends and presented the East-West Award to Hong Kong director Ann Hui. A montage then showcased films shot in Shanxi, including The Last Emperor, Painted Skin, Running on Karma, as well as the animations Nobody and All Wishes Come True!, according to Variety.
