Oradour: the TV drama filmed in Belgium, not in Oradour
The TV movie Oradour airing tonight on TF1 was shot in Belgium, not in the historic village.
According to AlloCiné, TF1 is broadcasting tonight Oradour, a historical drama starring Matt Pokora and Caroline Anglade. The story is set around the massacre of 10 June 1944 at Oradour-sur-Glane, where 643 civilians were killed. Pokora plays Philippe Gerbier, an officer of the Free French Forces parachuted near the village, while Anglade portrays Marie, his childhood love who returns after fleeing an abusive husband.
The filming did not take place in Oradour-sur-Glane but in Belgium. "We cannot shoot in Oradour because the village is already in ruins," explained Matt Pokora at a press conference in Paris on 29 June. Director Pierre Aknine added that the region had too many visual disturbances, and that Belgium offered a setting more suitable for the reconstruction.
