Filming of the live-action Solo Leveling series begins on Netflix
The main cast is confirmed and filming is already underway.
Netflix has started filming its live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling. Byeon Woo-seok plays the protagonist Sung Jin-woo, supported by Han So Hee and Kang You Seok. The South Korean series, classified as fantasy-action, joins the platform’s slate of major projects.
The project draws from Chugong’s web-novel, whose webtoon illustrated by Jang Sung-rak was released on KakaoPage in March 2018. The anime that followed boosted the franchise, gathering 14.3 billion worldwide views and becoming, according to Sony, the most-watched anime in Crunchyroll history, ahead of One Piece, Naruto, Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer. It swept nine awards at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2025, including Anime of the Year.
As with any adaptation of a popular manga or webtoon, fans remain watchful, but Netflix has a solid track record with its previous webtoon adaptations.
