Danny Boyle reveals his punk approach and the film Ink at TIFF
At TIFF, Danny Boyle explains his punk spirit and presents his new Netflix film Ink.
During the Toronto International Film Festival, director Danny Boyle took part in a "Visionaries" panel. He joked about refusing the title and reminded that he sees himself first and foremost as a storyteller. Known for Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire and Sunshine, he emphasized that his energy comes from punk, the musical movement that marked him the most. "I remain, deep down, a punk," he said, "break the rules, do things differently."
Boyle also shared career anecdotes: he turned down the script for Se7en, launched his first feature Shallow Grave, which was not selected for competition at Cannes but got a midnight screening. He recalled that festivals are not an end in itself, but a source of hope and energy for filmmakers. Finally, he presented his new film for Netflix, Ink, which continues his exploration of post-apocalyptic narratives and science-fiction.
