Blade with Mahershala Ali definitively abandoned
After several twists, the Blade project is removed from Marvel’s schedule.
According to AlloCiné, in July 2019 Kevin Feige announced the return of Blade to the big screen, with Mahershala Ali chosen to play the day-walking vampire. The script floundered, writers came and went, then director Bassam Tariq left the project in 2022 over creative differences, replaced by Yann Demange. The writers' strike in 2023 halted production, and Demange left the film in June 2024. Marvel permanently removed Blade from its schedule in September 2024, even though the release had been set for November 7 2025.
In July 2026, Kevin Feige told the microphone of the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he felt "like a huge loser" because of the project's failure. Mahershala Ali, Oscar winner for Moonlight and Green Book, responded by reminding of his contract, Marvel's billions of dollars and the fact that the film was not made because the company did not want to.
