AFI Fest 2026: New Selections for Galas and Special Screenings
The AFI festival unveils several titles, including I Play Rocky and Ray Gunn.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the organizers of AFI Fest revealed the titles chosen for the red-carpet galas and special screenings, ahead of the full announcement scheduled for September 29. Among the premieres, I Play Rocky by Peter Farrelly, starring Anthony Ippolito, and the Netflix animation Ray Gunn by Brad Bird, featuring the voices of Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell.
Sam Rockwell also appears in Wild Horse Nine by Martin McDonagh alongside John Malkovich; the film, which caused a sensation after its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, will be shown in the special screenings section. Other announced titles include Ava DuVernay’s documentary 14th, Ashes by Diego Luna, Behemoth! by Tony Gilroy with Pedro Pascal playing a prodigy cellist, Bitter Christmas by Pedro Almodóvar, Bunker by Florian Zeller starring Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, Clarissa by Arie and Chuko Esiri with David Oyelowo, Sophie Okonedo and Ayo Edebiri, as well as Elsinore by Simon Stone.
