Aamir Khan honored by SGIFF, opening with The Assassin(s)

The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) launches its 37th edition by officially presenting the Screen Icon Award to Indian actor, director and producer Aamir Khan, according to Variety. On the occasion, the festival screens a special anniversary showing of Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India, presented in the presence of director Ashutosh Gowariker.

The opening is with the South Korean thriller The Assassin(s), directed by Hur Jin-ho and starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and Lee Min-ho. Hur Jin-ho, together with Shim Eun-kyung and Park Sung-hoon, will attend the premiere.

Additionally, the festival's honorary prize, the Cinema Honorary Award, goes to Hirokazu Kore-eda, whose film Look Back will be screened, according to Variety.
