Zurich Film Festival opens with Golden Eye for Tom Hiddleston
Tom Hiddleston receives the Golden Eye at the European premiere of Tenzing in Zurich.
The Zurich Film Festival 2026 kicked off in Switzerland with the European premiere of Hiddleston's new adventure film, Tenzing. The feature tells the true story of the Nepalese-Indian sherpa Tenzing Norgay (played by Genden Phuntsok) who, alongside New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston), reached the summit of Everest in 1953. Willem Dafoe plays Colonel John Hunt, leader of the British expedition, while Thinley Lhamo portrays Tenzing's wife Dawa, and Caitríona Balfe appears as the expedition secretary Jill Henderson.
On Thursday evening, Tom Hiddleston was photographed in Zurich, dressed in an immaculate suit, to receive the Golden Eye. He was honored for his iconic role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as for his performances in The Night Manager, War Horse, and Midnight in Paris. Writer-director Jennifer Peedom and Willem Dafoe joined Hiddleston for the screening.
