George Lucas gave up three new Star Wars to create his museum
At 82, the creator of Star Wars chose to retire from filmmaking after Episode III - Revenge of the Sith to focus on the Lucas Museum.
George Lucas, 82, explained in an interview with Norah O'Donnell on CBS Sunday Morning that he had planned to make three new Star Wars films after Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005). But he chose to step away from directing.
He talked about the creation of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles with his wife Mellody Hobson. Hobson highlighted the "level of detail" of the project, which, according to Lucas, "almost killed me". He added that he lacked the time and wanted to devote himself to the museum after years of developing digital cinema technology.
Lucas thus left the helm after four Star Wars films, stating that "all art depends on technology".
